On the 26th of August at 10.00am, 2 teams (assembled from Blunham Cricket Club) will begin a game of cricket
that will last for over 100 hours, in order to, once again, set a new World Record. Since it was first set in 2003,
the record, (recognised by the Guinness World Record Organisation), has become hotly contested all over the world.
The original record was set at 26 hours 13 minutes by the Cricket Club des Ormes in France. Since then it has
been challenged and beaten by clubs from England, Australia and New Zealand. The official record now stands at
66 hours,and was set by the Raymond Terrace Cricket Club in NSW Australia. An attempt of 100 hours, set by previous holder
Cornwall Cricket Club in New Zealand, has yet to be recognised.
Blunham Cricket Club were previous holders of the record in 2008 (59 hours 33 Minutes) and now want to
surpass the 100 hour mark, regain the title and return the record to England. It will be a considerable test
of endurance. In the process of regaining the World Record, Blunham Cricket Club aim to raise £40,000.
The money raised will be donated to the Blunham Playing Field Association (BPFA) and to a number of local
and national cancer charities. (Full details available on request). We would like to gain sponsorship and
support from companies large and small in order to boost our fundraising efforts. Below, you will find a table
of sponsorship packages to suit both large and small companies who wish to be associated with the success of a
world record-breaking event.
The event achieved a very high profile in 2008. It was well supported by the public with many visitors to
the ground particularly on the last day. We enjoyed a visit from former England captain Mike Gatting and
received significant coverage on Sky, ITV and BBC television, BBC and Local Independent radio. Local Press,
national and international cricket media also told the story. We already have a commitment from Sky Television
to cover the event during the build up.
Sponsorship
There are many ways in which companies can support us. Outright sponsorship of the event, shirt sponsorship,
advertising on the boundary, the clock, advertising on this website and in the match programme. There is an opportunity for
trade stands at the ground during the event and to combine support of the event with sponsor's own regular
advertising campaign. The event should provide lots of picture opportunities and we will ensure that lots of high
quality pictures are available for our sponsors use after the event.
